I’m making Christmas biscuits, AKA cookies, and listening to Christmas music as a major summer thunderstorm rages outside. It still seems odd that Christmas happens in summer, but I’m getting used to it. We decorated this morning and I’ll string the Christmas lights later tonight. My shopping is almost done. I have two busy weeks at work before my schedule calms down. I can’t wait until next Saturday.

It’s the official start of summer and I’ve had a busy few weeks. My Mum just flew back to the US on Tuesday and I’m back to work. Today is the first day of job sharing for me. I’ll be part time in the ICU and part time in my new IT position. In January, I start full time in IT for 5 months. I’m nervous and excited about this change in my career. I never imagined it going in this direction, but I can’t wait to see where it leads.

I had an amazing time with my Mum. After 2 years of being in Australia and not seeing my family, I was thrilled to spend time with Mum. It was a difficult goodbye for me as well. I don’t know when I’ll see her again. But I’m being positive and looking forward to the time when I can see her once more.

I can’t believe Christmas is just a few weeks away. I need to finish shopping ASAP so I’m off to the shops.
